Our movement empowers the next generation to break barriers, shatter ceilings, and create a brighter future.
Every great movement has its roots in a compelling story, and Fearless Brown Girls® is no exception. Our organization was born from the visionary mind of our Founder, Diana Williams. Diana grew up in a small rural town, in Eastern NC, within a low income household where she experienced firsthand the impact of financial insecurity and the absence of financial knowledge. Fueled by a deep passion for change and the unwavering belief that young girls of color possess boundless potential, she set out on a mission to make a difference. Diana’s personal journey of unique challenges and triumphs, ignited the spark that became Fearless Brown Girls®.
At the heart of Fearless Brown Girls® lies a powerful mission: bridging the racial wealth gap through empowerment and financial education. We understand the disparities that persist among different racial and ethnic groups. In the United States, White households have 10 times the wealth of Black
households and 7 times the wealth of Latinx households. We’ve seen how these challenges affect our communities nationally, and locally, in Charlotte, NC. We are determined to be part of the solution. Fearless Brown Girls® is committed to empowering young black & brown girls to build financial confidence and independence by providing them with fun & engaging education, resources, and mentorship in financial literacy and personal development.
Our commitment to change goes beyond words—it’s in our actions. Fearless Brown Girls® offers a range of transformative programs and initiatives, each designed to empower young girls within the context of financial literacy and personal growth. “Building a Fearless Foundation” fosters confidence, mental wellness, and career aspirations. Our “Financially Confident Teens Initiative” covers essential financial topics. “Mind Your Business” is an entrepreneurial program that equips teen entrepreneurs with vital business skills. “Cultivate Your Coins Mentorship” pairs girls with financial experts to guide savings goals and offer ongoing financial support. Lastly, “Fearless Connections” forges partnerships, expanding our girls’ networks and amplifying our community impact. These programs collectively drive us closer to our mission of empowering young black and brown girls to navigate the financial world with confidence and independence.
